We explored the magic sand which has a special coating that prevents water from clinging to it. When ordinary sand meets water, the water clings to the sand and makes it stick together. Water rolls right off magic sand, so it does not get wet.

What we did:
put a few scoops of magic sand into the water tank
sculpt the sand in the water and lift out of the water again to see that it stays dry
Magic sand is also called hydrophobic sand and is widely used in building
and house maintenance works.
You can make your own waterproof sand when you spray ordinary fine sand with Fabric Waterproof Spray.
Good luck!
